Mark Summers

Mark believes happiness always comes first. As a leading figure in the growth of agile coaching, experience has taught him that if a team is having fun, it will perform far better.

As a Certified Scrum Trainer and Certified Enterprise Coach, he finds it satisfying to help people solve their own problems and create world class teams. He was one of the UK’s first agile coaches and today is a leading figure in the ongoing story of agile training and coaching, a speaker at conferences, a leader of retreats, and a coach who never stops reflecting and evolving. If you’re an agent of change, he believes you have to be on a continuous learning journey yourself.

For Mark, enjoyment isn’t an optional extra – that’s where businesses go wrong. He believes that the organisation of the future will be driven by self-managing, self-motivated teams and facilitated by manager-coaches rather than led by traditional dictator-managers. Mark sees his work – coaching teams, leadership and organisations in their move to agility – as part of a bigger shift in society.

Uncompromisingly honest with himself, energising and thought-provoking as a coach, Mark is 100% committed to helping people succeed by becoming happier, more open and more autonomous as individuals and as teams.

Using the Agile Coaching Growth Wheel

Mark uses the Agile Coaching Growth Wheel as part of his Certified Scrum Professional – ScrumMaster® pathway, for ScrumMasters to understand the breadth and depth of the profession that underpins their work.  For many it is eyeopening to see the opportunity for personal growth in service of their teams and organisations.  Mark also uses the wheel when coaching and mentoring Agile Coaches to help them orientate around their growth.

Mark acts as the Product Owner for the Agile Coaching Growth Wheel, and contributed three chapters based on the wheel to the book Extraordinarily Badass Agile Coaching by Robert Galen.
